But I can't keep it in any longer- THE COLUMBUS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IS PLAYING RACHMANINOV'S THIRD PIANO CONCERTO IN D-MINOR AND DVORAK'S NINTH SYMPHONY IN E-MINOR THIS WEEKEND, OMFG.
SO
FUCKING
EXCITED.
SOFA KING EXCITED.
This is... this is HUGE. Rach's 3rd piano concerto is arguably the most epic/best piano concerto in existence. I actually happen to love his 2nd (c-minor) more, but that doesn't change the fact that the 3rd is the BETTER concerto. Omg. To finally get to hear it live... I'M PUMPED K.
And then, as if the Columbus Symphony thought that maybe, just fricken maybe Rach's 3rd wasn't enough of a gift to the world, they decided to include Dvorak's New World symphony.
I don't know how many of y'all have heard that symphony, but if you haven't, well.
YOU'RE MISSING OUT.
GO. RIGHT NOW. GO.
Not a classical music fan? Okay, just try the fourth movement. I PROMISE you won't be disappointed, though personally I think all four movements are gorgeous and I have a particular soft spot for the first. BUT YOU WANT EPIC YOU SCOOT ON TO THE FOURTH K. NOW.
I mean, a whole bunch of my friends are going to go to this concert. THAT'S HOW EPIC THE NINTH SYMPHONY IS. Granted, I have awesome friends who actually appreciate classical music and, le gasp, even LIKE some it and are totally tolerant of my/Mack's obsession of it, BUT STILL.
The opening bars to the fourth movement were actually the inspiration for the Jaws theme, you know.
I listen to it AT LEAST once a week. Omg. This is going to be awesome. I'm going to it tonight, and then again tomorrow.
This is going to make my month, FOR SURE.
AND, ANNNND, the Columbus Symphony is going to be performing Beethoven's fifth piano concerto, Brahm's first, and Mozart's 21st, all later in the season.
WHAT THE HELL GUYS IS IT THE LET'S PLAY THE MOST AWESOME PIANO CONCERTOS EVER SEASON OR SOMETHING? All we're missing is Tchaikovsky's first and Rach's second, omg.
So yeah. This is my 'I'm really excited for my nerdy life' journal. LIKE IT.
And I may or may not be currently listening to Sibelius' first symphony JUST so I can brood and h8 on it in my mind.
...
Don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but Sibelius is kind of my arch nemesis. The number of times I've been tricked by this symphony... OH F U SIBELIUS. F U. TEAM TCHAIKOVSKY ALL THE WAY!
...
SO YEAH.
Hope everyone's having a rocking weekend.

(11:43:12 AM) Raven: And because of you they had to form a support group for cows mercilessly thrown to the abyss of my genitals. EVEN WORSE.
PS: If anybody actually listens to the Dvoark symphony (or hell, any of the music mentioned) and tells me about it, I'll totally sketch an equine char for you. 8D
PPS: I've totally gotten back in to playing Pokemon gold. On my laptop. JEALOUS? YEAH THOUGHT SO.

i love it.
